This coming Sunday lots of things are happening at Dowlen Road. We have our fall time change coming up–and then a second time change also. In addition to dealing with the clocks, our new quarter Bible classes begin.

Wouldn’t it be a good time to get a fresh start on things for you and your family? With the bad weather we have had recently a lot of folks have missed a lot of services. When that happens it is easy to slip back into old habits and become less committed to Jesus than we ought to be. Has that happened to you?

Why not resolve right now to get a fresh start on Bible class and worship? Be present and ready for class at 9:30 this coming Sunday morning.

The kingdom of God is the land of new beginnings. There is a certain freshness that is new every day in God’s vineyard. We are a people who have been born again. Jesus Christ has renewed us and is making us over in His image. Remember the words of 2 Corinthians 5:17.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Here are three things happening this Sunday:

1. We set our clocks back to Central Standard Time. Daylight Savings ends. That means we move our clocks back one hour before going to bed.

2. Our new Sunday evening service time is 5:00 pm. This is something that was requested by a number of folks. We hope it works out well for everyone.

3. New Bible classes begin Sunday morning at 9:30 am. Here are our adult classes:

“Prayer and the Word of God” taught by Lester Tarver (Auditorium)

“King David and the Psalms” taught by Max Dawson (Room 217)

“Navigating Cultural Storms” taught by Benjamin Lee (Room 218)

“The Amazing Women of the Bible” taught by Sarah Davis (Room 219)

“New Members Class” taught by Westley Pollard (Room 222)

Is it really possible to be made new…to be fresh…to be clean…to be alive? Of course it is. That’s what the gospel is all about.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

To have the life Jesus spoke of, we need something much more fundamental that just remembering time changes or that new classes begin. There needs to be a change of heart. I need to say to myself…

“I will never be what Jesus wants me to be until I learn of Him. I will never truly be His disciple until I put His word to work in my life. I will never really belong to Him as long as I hold on to my own stubborn will. I will resolve now to serve Him faithfully and to be present with other saints to worship and adore Him. I am ready for a fresh start.”

I look forward to seeing you Sunday morning for Bible class at 9:30.
